Musician wins £750,000 after suing Royal Opera House for hearing loss

This Court of Appeal ruling yesterday shows no employer or organisation is exempt from protecting staff from hearing damage, not even when noise is the product. This case also proves that no employees hearing damage is ever justifiable or part of the job. Noise Induced Hearing Loss is irreversible and 100% preventable.

The Royal Opera House (ROH) used acoustic screens during the rehearsal and provided earplugs, but the Court of Appeal ruled unanimously that the ROH failed to take reasonable steps to protect Christopher Goldscheider during the 2012 rehearsal.
